Acupuncture:

I primarily practice a Japanese style of acupuncture  that was brought to the United States by Kiiko Matsumoto. It is a very gentle style of acupuncture that relies on palpation more than many other styles of acupuncture.

Naturopathic Medicine:

As I wrote on the "about me" page, we have many therapies available to us as naturopathic doctors and acupuncturists. I use some combination of the following therapies with most of the individuals I work with:
nutritional therapies--dietary and supplemental
botanical therapies--herbs as teas, tinctures, topical,
             encapsulations, gemmotherapy
homeopathy
lifestyle recommendations: movement/exercise, meditation,
              pleasure/joy practices, etc.
hydrotherapy
physical and energetic therapies
counseling
family constellation therapy

Naturopathic Medicine is based on 6 basic principles:
-the healing power of nature (vis medicatrix naturae): recognizing and utilizing the individual's inherent ability to heal oneself--that wisdom found in the body and soul of the individual.
-identify and treat the causes (toll causam): focusing on the individual as a whole and treating the underlying causes of imbalance, rather than focusing simply on symptoms.
-first do no harm (premium non nocere): by causing no harm, referring when appropriate and by using the least force necessary to diagnose and treat imbalance and support optimal health; and always to respect the individual's own healing process.
-doctor as teacher (docere): supporting self-responsibility of each individual in their process and for their health.
-treat the whole person: each person is an individual with their own physical, mental, emotional, spiritual experiences, as well as their own unique set of environmental, social and other factors--and, we approach each individual as their own whole being.
-prevention: focus on overall wellness and disease prevention.

Family Constellation Therapy

What is Family Constellation Therapy?
Family Constellation Therapy attempts to reveal an unrecognized dynamic that spans multiple generations in a given family.  We may unknowingly be carrying things from our past, including that of our ancestors.  Once revealed, the awareness of the dynamic offers the individual a potential to make their own choices in how they respond.

We are living a response to the conditions we are in. Health is the ability to respond. If we are rigid, if we are unable to respond, we develop symptoms, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. What family constellation therapy can offer is help in finding a new perspective. As we change our perspective, we open up and in that opening up, more flow moves through the system. In that flow, we expand our capacity to respond.

Family Constellation Therapy is a therapeutic approach to bring visible what is behind us in our ancestral field that may be hindering our current potential to live fully and with our soul’s purpose.  It was first introduced by Bert Hellinger, a German therapist, who had spent many years with the Zulu tribe in Africa, where he began to understand the importance of the ancestors in our lives.  It has continued to evolve since then, and is now practiced throughout the world.

How this works:
An individual or seeker brings an inquiry, some question or situation that they are grappling with.
We enter the constellation from the perspective of this inquiry.
Representatives are chosen from the group to stand in as individuals or elements from the seeker’s life related to the inquiry. These representatives show us a picture through the lens of this question or situation.
Through this picture, we become aware of the limitations that are impacting the seeker, which, in turn, can allow the seeker more choice and awareness and be instrumental in movement towards healing.

If you’re curious to see some of this in action, the Netflix Turkish series, Another Self, shows beautifully how this can impact people’s lives.
